How to Make Chrysanthemum Leaf Tofu: A Simple Guide

Chrysanthemum leaf tofu, a light and nutritious dish, combines the earthy flavor of chrysanthemum leaves with the silky texture of tofu. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 300g soft tofu, 200g fresh chrysanthemum leaves, 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, salt, and a pinch of white pepper. Optional: a drizzle of chili oil for heat.

Steps:

1. Prep the ingredients: Blanch chrysanthemum leaves in boiling water for 30 seconds, then plunge into ice water to retain color. Drain and chop finely. Press tofu to remove excess water and crumble into small pieces.

2. Sauté the base: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

3. Combine and cook: Add chopped chrysanthemum leaves and tofu to the pan. Gently stir-fry for 2–3 minutes. Season with soy sauce, salt, and white pepper. Drizzle with sesame oil and mix well.

4. Serve: Transfer to a plate and garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chili oil if desired. Enjoy warm with rice or as a side dish.

This dish is quick, healthy, and versatile—adjust ingredients to taste for a delightful meal that highlights the freshness of spring greens.
