A Christmas Cookie Recipe Guide

Christmas cookies are the sweet heart of the holiday season, blending tradition, warmth, and joy in every bite. Here’s a simple guide to baking classic treats that will delight family and friends.

Start with the basic sugar cookie dough: cream 1 cup of softened butter with 1 cup each of granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Gradually mix in 3 ½ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt. Chill the dough for 1 hour—this makes rolling easier!

For cutout cookies, roll dough to ¼-inch thickness, then use festive cookie cutters (stars, trees, gingerbread men). Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes until golden. Decorate with royal icing (mix powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water) and sprinkles.

Love spice? Try gingerbread cookies: blend 1 cup molasses, ½ cup butter, and ¼ cup sugar. Add 1 egg, then 3 ½ cups flour mixed with 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ginger, and ½ teaspoons each of cloves and baking soda. Roll, cut, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.

For a chewy treat, make peppermint bark cookies: press chocolate chip dough onto a baking sheet, then bake. Top with crushed candy canes and drizzle with melted white chocolate.

No matter the recipe, the magic lies in the love you pour into them. Happy baking and Merry Christmas!
