How to Make Oat Soy Milk: A Simple Guide

Oat soy milk, a nutritious and creamy plant-based drink, combines the benefits of oats and soybeans. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup soybeans, 4 cups water, a pinch of salt (optional), sweetener like honey or dates (optional).

Steps:

1. Soak: Rinse soybeans, soak in water for 8 hours or overnight. Drain. Soak rolled oats in 1 cup water for 30 minutes, then blend until smooth.

2. Blend: Combine soaked soybeans, blended oat mixture, and 3 cups water in a blender. Blend on high for 2–3 minutes until creamy.

3. Cook: Pour the mixture into a pot, heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils (5–7 minutes). Reduce heat and simmer for 2 more minutes. Avoid boiling vigorously to prevent overflow.

4. Strain: Use a cheesecloth or fine-mesh sieve to strain the milk, squeezing out all liquid. For extra creaminess, skip straining.

5. Flavor: Add sweetener or salt to taste. Cool before storing in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Enjoy your homemade oat soy milk in smoothies, cereals, or as a standalone drink! It’s a healthy, dairy-free alternative packed with fiber and protein.
