Hearty Tomato Beef Soup: A Culinary Guide

Tomato beef soup is a comforting, nutrient-rich dish perfect for any season. Here’s a simple yet delicious method to whip it up.

Ingredients: 500g beef (chuck or brisket, cubed), 4 ripe tomatoes (blanched and pureed), 1 onion (diced), 2 carrots (sliced), 2 celery stalks (chopped), 3 garlic cloves (minced), 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp dried herbs (thyme or basil), 1 liter beef broth, salt, and pepper to taste. Optional: a pinch of sugar to balance acidity.

Steps:

1. Sear the Beef: Heat olive oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef cubes until caramelized (5-7 minutes). Remove and set aside.

2. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pot, sauté onion, carrots, celery, and garlic until softened (5 minutes). Stir in dried herbs.

3. Simmer: Return beef to the pot. Add tomato puree, broth, and a cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5–2 hours until beef is tender.

4. Season & Serve: Skim off excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar if needed. Simmer for 10 more minutes. Serve hot with crusty bread or rice.

Variations: For a creamy twist, blend half the soup and mix back in. Add potatoes or mushrooms for heartiness. This versatile soup guarantees warmth and flavor in every spoonful!
