How to Make Stir-Fried Shiitake Mushrooms with Bok Choy

Stir-fried shiitake mushrooms with bok choy is a quick, nutritious, and delicious dish that balances umami and freshness. Here’s a simple guide to making it perfectly.

Ingredients:

- 200g fresh shiitake mushrooms, stems removed and sliced

- 300g bok choy, washed and cut into 3-inch sections

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tbsp soy sauce

- 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional for depth)

- 1 tsp sugar

- 2 tbsp cooking oil

- Salt to taste

Steps:

1. Prep the Vegetables: Soak shiitake mushrooms in warm water for 10 minutes (if dried, rehydrate first), then drain and slice. Bok choy should be rinsed thoroughly to remove dirt.

2. Stir-Fry Mushrooms: Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they soften and release their moisture. Remove and set aside.

3. Cook Bok Choy: In the same wok, add a bit more oil if needed, then sauté garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Toss in bok choy and stir-fry for 2 minutes until it wilts but remains crisp.

4. Combine and Season: Return the mushrooms to the wok. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir-fry for 1 minute until everything is evenly coated and heated through.

Serve hot with steamed rice. This dish pairs earthy mushrooms with tender bok choy, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures in under 15 minutes!
