How to Make Perfect Spring Rolls: A Step-by-Step Guide

Spring rolls, crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside, are a beloved dish across Asia. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients: For the filling, shred cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Add thin strips of cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu for protein. Use rice paper or spring roll wrappers, and prepare cornstarch or flour as glue.

Steps:

1. Prep the filling: Sauté vegetables and protein in a pan with garlic, soy sauce, and a pinch of sugar until tender. Let it cool.

2. Wrap the rolls: Lay a wrapper flat. Place 2-3 tablespoons of filling near the bottom corner. Fold the bottom over the filling, tuck in the sides, then roll tightly into a cylinder. Seal the end with cornstarch slurry.

3. Fry to perfection: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Deep-fry rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Serving: Enjoy hot with sweet chili sauce, plum sauce, or a dipping mix of soy sauce and vinegar. For a healthier version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes until crispy.

With fresh ingredients and careful wrapping, you’ll achieve restaurant-quality spring rolls every time!
