Golden Dumplings: A Step-by-Step Guide

Golden dumplings, named for their vibrant hue and crispy exterior, are a beloved treat. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients: For the dough, mix 200g all-purpose flour with 1 tsp turmeric powder (for color) and a pinch of salt. Gradually add 100ml warm water, kneading into a smooth dough. Let it rest for 30 minutes. For the filling, combine 150g minced pork (or tofu for a vegetarian option) with 2 chopped mushrooms, 1 shredded carrot, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and a pinch of white pepper.

Steps:

1. Prepare the dough: Divide the rested dough into small balls. Roll each into a thin circle (about 3mm thick).

2. Add filling: Place 1 tbsp of filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold and seal the edges, pleating to form a half-moon shape.

3. Fry: Heat oil in a pan to 170°C. Fry dumplings in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Drain excess oil.

Serving: Enjoy hot with a dipping sauce of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil. These crispy, flavorful dumplings are perfect as snacks or appetizers!
