How to Make Pineapple Bread: A Comprehensive Guide

Pineapple bread, a beloved soft and sweet pastry, is surprisingly easy to make at home. Here’s a detailed guide to baking this delightful treat.

Ingredients: For the dough, you’ll need 300g all-purpose flour, 30g sugar, 1 egg, 110ml warm milk, 25g butter, 1 tsp yeast, and a pinch of salt. For the pineapple topping, mix 50g crushed pineapple (canned, drained), 30g sugar, 1 tbsp flour, and 1 tbsp melted butter.

Steps:

1. Activate yeast: Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Make dough: In a bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, salt, and egg. Pour in yeast mixture and knead into a smooth dough. Add softened butter and knead until elastic (about 10 minutes).

3. First rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled.

4. Shape: Punch down dough, divide into 8 equal portions, and roll each into a ball. Flatten slightly, place pineapple topping in the center, and wrap dough around it, sealing the edges.

5. Second rise: Place rolls on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.

6. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush rolls with egg wash and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.

Tips: For extra flavor, add a pinch of vanilla to the dough. Enjoy warm with a cup of tea!
