three delicacies dumplings

How to Make Delicious Sanxian Dumplings

Sanxian dumplings, a beloved Chinese dish, are named for their three key fresh fillings: shrimp, pork, and egg. Follow this simple guide to create these flavorful dumplings at home.

Ingredients: For the wrapper, mix 2 cups of all-purpose flour with ½ cup of warm water until a smooth dough forms; let it rest for 30 minutes. For the filling, combine 150g ground pork, 100g chopped shrimp, 2 scrambled and crumbled eggs, 2 chopped shiitake mushrooms, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and minced ginger and garlic to taste.

Steps:

1. Prepare the wrapper: Knead the rested dough until elastic, then roll it into a long log and cut into small pieces. Flatten each piece into a thin round wrapper with a rolling pin.

2. Make the filling: Mix all filling ingredients thoroughly in a bowl. Ensure the shrimp is finely chopped for even distribution.

3. Assemble: Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half, pinch the edges to seal, and create pleats for a traditional look.

4. Cook: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add dumplings in batches and cook for 3-5 minutes until they float to the surface. For a crispier texture, pan-fry them in oil after boiling until golden brown.

Serve hot with a dipping sauce of soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil. Enjoy these savory dumplings that perfectly blend textures and flavors!
