How to Stir-Fry Black Fungus: A Simple Guide

Stir-fried black fungus is a nutritious and versatile dish, loved for its crunchy texture and ability to absorb flavors. Here’s a basic guide to making it at home.

Ingredients:

- Dried black fungus (soaked in warm water for 20-30 minutes until soft, then trimmed and torn into bite-sized pieces)

- 2 cloves garlic (minced)

- 1 green onion (chopped)

- 1 bell pepper (sliced, optional)

- 1 tbsp cooking oil

- 1 tbsp light soy sauce

- ½ tsp sugar

- A pinch of salt

Steps:

1. Prep the Fungus: Soak dried black fungus until plump, discard tough stems, and rinse thoroughly. Drain well.

2. Heat the Pan: Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant (about 10 seconds).

3. Stir-Fry: Toss in black fungus and bell pepper (if using). Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the fungus becomes slightly crisp-tender.

4. Season: Add light soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Mix well to coat evenly. Cook for another 1 minute.

5. Garnish and Serve: Turn off the heat, sprinkle with chopped green onions, and serve hot with rice or noodles.

Tips: For extra flavor, add a dash of vinegar or chili flakes. Avoid overcooking to maintain the fungus’ pleasant crunch. Enjoy this healthy, quick dish that pairs perfectly with any meal!
