How to Make Milk Cubes: A Simple Guide

Milk cubes, or "xiaofang," are tender, slightly sweet milk-based treats perfect for desserts, drinks, or snacking. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

- 500ml fresh milk (whole milk creamier results)

- 40g sugar (adjust to taste)

- 15g gelatin powder (or agar agar for a vegetarian option)

- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Steps:

1. Prepare the gelatin: Soak gelatin in 4 tablespoons of cold milk for 5 minutes until soft.

2. Heat the mixture: In a saucepan, warm the remaining milk with sugar over low heat, stirring until dissolved. Do not boil.

3. Dissolve gelatin: Add the softened gelatin to the warm milk, stirring continuously until fully melted. Remove from heat.

4. Add flavor: Stir in vanilla extract if using.

5. Set: Pour the mixture into a clean container or silicone mold. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

6. Cut: Once set, unmold and cut into small cubes.

Tips:

- For fruit-flavored cubes, blend in mashed strawberries or mango before setting.

- Coat cubes in cocoa powder or shredded coconut for extra texture.

- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

These versatile milk cubes are easy to customize and make a delightful addition to any meal!
