How to Cook Bok Choy: A Simple Guide

Bok choy, a nutritious leafy green, is a staple in Asian cuisine. Here’s a quick guide to three popular ways to prepare it.

Stir-Fry (Garlic & Oyster Sauce): Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok over high heat. Add 2 minced garlic cloves, stir-fry until fragrant. Toss in 1 chopped bok choy, stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until wilted. Drizzle 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp soy sauce, and a pinch of sugar. Mix well and cook for 1 more minute. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Boiled with Ginger & Broth: Bring 4 cups of chicken or vegetable broth to a boil. Add 2 sliced bok choy and 3 ginger slices. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until tender. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot for a light, comforting dish.

Sautéed with Mushrooms: Sauté 1 sliced mushroom in 1 tbsp oil until golden. Add 1 bok choy (cut into 2-inch pieces), stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add 1 tbsp light soy sauce and a dash of white pepper. Cook for 1 minute until crisp-tender.

Each method highlights bok choy’s versatility—tender, crisp, and packed with flavor. Enjoy this healthy veggie in under 10 minutes!
