How to Make Carrot Dumplings: A Step-by-Step Guide

Carrot dumplings, a vibrant and nutritious twist on traditional dumplings, are loved for their sweet flavor and golden hue. Here’s a simple guide to crafting them at home.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 2 cups grated carrots, 1 cup minced pork or tofu (for a vegetarian option), 2 chopped green onions, 1 tbsp ginger, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, salt, and pepper. For the dough, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour with ¾ cup warm water and knead into a smooth ball. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

Steps:

1. Prepare the filling: Sauté ginger until fragrant, then add pork/tofu and cook until done. Mix in grated carrots, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir-fry for 5 minutes until carrots soften. Let cool.

2. Roll the dough: Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each into a thin wrapper (about 3-4 inches in diameter).

3. Shape the dumplings: Place 1 tbsp filling in the center. Fold the wrapper in half, pinch the edges to seal, and create pleats for a classic look.

4. Cook: Boil water, add dumplings, and cook for 8-10 minutes until they float. For a crispier texture, pan-fry them in oil until golden on both sides after boiling.

Serve with soy-vinegar dipping sauce. These dumplings are not only delicious but also packed with vitamins, making them a perfect healthy treat!
