How to Make Carrot Cake: A Step-by-Step Guide

Carrot cake, a moist and spiced classic, is loved for its blend of sweet carrots, warm spices, and creamy frosting. Here’s a simple recipe to bake this delightful treat at home.

Ingredients:

For the cake: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 ½ tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp salt, 4 large eggs, 1 ½ cups vegetable oil, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 2 cups grated carrots, 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional).

For the frosting: 8 oz cream cheese, ½ cup butter (softened), 1 tsp vanilla, 3 ½ cups powdered sugar.

Instructions:

1. Prepare the batter: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs, oil, and vanilla. Mix wet ingredients into dry, then fold in carrots and walnuts.

2. Bake: Divide batter between pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

3. Make frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and powdered sugar gradually, mixing until creamy.

4. Assemble: Once cakes are completely cool, frost the top and sides. For extra flair, garnish with chopped walnuts or carrot shavings.

Chill for 1 hour before serving to let the frosting set. Enjoy this crowd-pleasing cake with a cup of coffee or tea!
