How to Make Apple Crumble: A Simple Guide

Apple crumble is a comforting dessert that’s easy to make with just a few ingredients. Here’s a basic guide to crafting a perfect batch.

For the filling, peel, core, and slice 4–5 apples (Granny Smith works best for tartness). Toss them with 2 tbsp lemon juice, 3 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 2 tbsp flour (to thicken juices). Spread the mixture in a baking dish.

For the crumble topping, combine 1 cup rolled oats, ½ cup flour, ½ cup brown sugar, ½ tsp cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cut in 6 tbsp cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle this evenly over the apple filling.

Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35–45 minutes until the topping is golden and the fruit bubbles. Let it cool slightly before serving, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Variations: Add chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) to the topping for crunch, or mix a handful of berries with the apples. For a spicier twist, incorporate ginger or nutmeg. This versatile dessert is perfect for any season—warm, sweet, and effortlessly delicious!
