How to Make Brown Sugar Bread: A Simple Guide

Brown sugar bread, with its caramelized sweetness and soft, fluffy texture, is a beloved treat. Here’s an easy recipe to bake it at home.

Ingredients:

- 300g bread flour

- 30g brown sugar (light or dark)

- 1 egg

- 180ml milk (warm, ~35°C)

- 25g butter (melted)

- 1 tsp instant yeast

- ½ tsp salt

- Optional: 1 tbsp cinnamon for extra flavor.

Steps:

1. Activate yeast: Mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Combine dough: In a bowl, whisk flour, brown sugar, salt, and egg. Pour in yeast mixture and knead until smooth. Add melted butter and knead for 10 minutes until elastic.

3. First rise: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.

4. Shape: Punch down the dough, roll it into a rectangle, and fold like a letter. Place in a greased loaf pan.

5. Second rise: Cover and let rise for 40 minutes until puffy.

6. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden. Brush with melted butter for a soft crust.

Tips: For a richer flavor, add brown sugar syrup to the dough before baking. Enjoy it plain or with butter, jam, or fresh fruit!
