How to Make Delicious Shitake Pork Buns: A Complete Guide

Making savory shitake pork buns at home is easier than you think! Follow this step-by-step guide for fluffy buns filled with umami-rich filling.

Ingredients: For the dough, you’ll need 300g all-purpose flour, 3g yeast, 1 tsp sugar, 150ml warm water, and 1 tsp oil. For the filling, prepare 200g ground pork, 100g dried shitake mushrooms (rehydrated and diced), 2 green onions (chopped), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, salt, and pepper to taste.

Steps:

1. Prepare the dough: Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water, let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Mix with flour and oil, knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

2. Make the filling: Rehydrate dried mushrooms in hot water for 20 minutes, then dice. Sauté ground pork in a pan until browned, add mushrooms, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and seasonings. Cook until dry, then stir in green onions and sesame oil. Let cool.

3. Shape and steam: Punch down the dough, divide into 8 equal balls. Roll each into a circle, wrap 1-2 tbsp filling, and pinch the edges to seal. Place buns on parchment paper, let rest for 15 minutes. Steam over high heat for 15-20 minutes.

Enjoy these buns warm—they’re perfect as a snack or meal! Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat before serving.
