Spicy Beef Sauce Recipe Guide

Spicy beef sauce is a versatile condiment that elevates dishes from noodles to rice or sandwiches. Here’s a simple yet flavorful recipe to make it at home.

Ingredients: 500g ground beef, 3 tbsp cooking oil, 6-7 dried chilies (soaked and chopped), 4 tbsp doubanjiang (broad bean chili paste), 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns, 3 garlic cloves (minced), 1 tbsp ginger (minced), and 100ml water.

Steps:

1. Sauté aromatics: Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Stir-fry ginger, garlic, and Sichuan peppercorns until fragrant.

2. Cook beef: Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and release excess oil.

3. Add chili base: Toss in doubanjiang and dried chilies, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes to deepen the flavor.

4. Simmer: Pour in water, soy sauces, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

5. Adjust seasoning: Taste and add more sugar or soy sauce if needed. Let it cool completely before storing in an airtight jar.

This sauce keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. Experiment with chili levels or add fermented beans for a unique twist!
