How to Make Braised Pork with Green Beans

Braised pork with green beans is a comforting, flavorful dish that balances tender meat with crisp-tender beans in a savory sauce. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 300g pork belly (cut into 1-inch cubes), 300g green beans (trimmed and snapped into 2-inch pieces), 3 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp ginger (grated), 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1 cup water, 2 tbsp cooking oil, and a pinch of pepper.

Steps:

1. Marinate the pork: In a bowl, mix pork with 1 tbsp soy sauce, grated ginger, and a pinch of pepper. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

2. Stir-fry the pork: Heat oil in a wok or deep pan over medium-high heat. Add marinated pork and cook until browned (about 5 minutes). Remove and set aside.

3. Cook the beans: In the same pan, add green beans and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly charred. Push them to one side.

4. Sauté aromatics: Add garlic and the remaining soy sauce to the center of the pan. Stir until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

5. Combine and simmer: Return pork to the pan. Add oyster sauce, sugar, and water. Stir well, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes, until pork is tender and beans are crisp-tender.

6. Serve: Adjust seasoning if needed, garnish with sesame seeds, and serve hot with steamed rice.

This dish pairs well with steamed rice and offers a perfect mix of textures and umami. Enjoy your homemade braised pork with green beans!
