Egg yolk cookies, with their rich, buttery flavor and crumbly texture, are a beloved homemade treat. Here’s a straightforward recipe to achieve bakery-quality results at home.
Ingredients: You’ll need 5 egg yolks (at room temperature), 100g unsalted butter (softened), 50g powdered sugar, 150g all-purpose flour, and a pinch of salt (optional for depth). For extra richness, add 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Steps:
1. Preheat & Prep: Set your oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cream Butter & Sugar: Beat softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. This takes about 3-5 minutes.
3. Add Egg Yolks: Incorporate egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla if using.
4. Combine Dry Ingredients: Sift flour and salt together, then gradually fold into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture tender.
5. Shape & Bake: Scoop small dough balls (about 2 tsp each) and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space for spreading. Flatten slightly with the back of a fork.
6. Bake for 15–18 minutes until the edges turn golden. Let them cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Tips: For a sweeter touch, dip the tops in powdered sugar while warm. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Enjoy these melt-in-your-mouth cookies with tea or coffee!
