How to Make Honey Bread: A Simple Guide

Honey bread, a delightful treat with a golden crust and soft, sweet interior, is perfect for breakfast or snacks. Here’s an easy recipe to guide you.

Ingredients:

- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

- 2 tbsp honey (plus extra for glazing)

- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

- ¼ tsp salt

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

- 1 egg

Steps:

1. Activate yeast: Mix warm milk, 2 tbsp honey, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2. Combine dough: In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

3. Knead: Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.

4. Shape: Punch down dough, divide into two, and shape into loaves. Place in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush tops with extra honey. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden. Cool before slicing.

Enjoy your homemade honey bread plain or with butter! For variation, add raisins or nuts to the dough.
