A Comprehensive Guide to Making Pizza

Pizza, a beloved global dish, is surprisingly versatile to make at home. Whether you prefer a thin crust, deep-dish, or whole wheat base, the process begins with the dough. Combine 2 cups flour, 1 tsp yeast, 1 tsp salt, and 3/4 cup warm water. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth, then let it rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.

For the sauce, simmer crushed tomatoes with garlic, olive oil, oregano, and a pinch of salt for 15 minutes. While it simmers, prepare toppings: classic options include mozzarella, pepperoni, and mushrooms, but get creative with veggies, prosciutto, or even pineapple.

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (ideally 250°C/480°F) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, transfer to a floured peel, then spread sauce, add cheese, and top with desired ingredients.

Slide the pizza onto the hot stone and bake for 10–15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese bubbles. Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Experiment with flavors and techniques to perfect your signature pizza!
