How to Make Savory Minced Pork with Tofu: A Simple Guide

Savory minced pork with tofu is a comforting, quick-to-cook dish loved for its tender tofu and flavorful sauce. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making it effortlessly.

Ingredients: 300g soft tofu (silken or medium-firm), 150g ground pork, 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp ginger (minced), 2 green onions (chopped), 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tsp dark soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp cooking wine, 100ml water or broth, 1 tsp sesame oil, and a pinch of white pepper.

Steps:

1. Prep tofu: Cut tofu into 1.5cm cubes. Soak in warm water for 5 minutes to remove excess moisture, then drain.

2. Cook pork: Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, stir-fry until fragrant (10 seconds). Add ground pork, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned (3-4 minutes).

3. Simmer: Pour in cooking wine, soy sauces, sugar, and water. Stir well, bring to a gentle simmer.

4. Add tofu: Gently add tofu cubes. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5–7 minutes, careful not to overmix and break the tofu.

5. Finish: Uncover, drizzle with sesame oil, sprinkle white pepper and green onions. Simmer for 1 more minute. Serve hot with rice.

Tips: Use firm tofu if you prefer less delicate pieces. For extra flavor, add a dash of chili oil or a sliced chili. This versatile dish pairs perfectly with steamed rice and takes under 20 minutes to prepare!
